They come to Thrinacie. Unfavourable winds prevent them from leaving for a month, during which time they run out of food and begin to starve. Against Odysseus' orders, the men kill and eat the oxen of the Sun while he is asleep. To punish them for this crime, Zeus wrecks their ship with a thunderbolt. Only Odysseus survives. Eventually he is cast ashore on Calypso's island. Here Odysseus ends the tale of his great wanderings.
