(Dread) v. t. [imp. & p. p. Dreaded; p. pr. & vb. n. Dreading.] [AS. drdan, in comp.; akin to OS. dradan, OHG. tratan, both only in comp.] To fear in a great degree; to regard, or look forward to, with terrific apprehension.
